Oscar and Susan were born and raised in Venezuela.  They have lived in California for more than 10 years, working together as a couple for many of those years, including in their own Construction and Facilities Maintenance business in Sacramento, as well as a business guiding tourists from Germany , Switzerland and North America to the Islands of National Park Morrocoy, located on the Caribbean Coast of Venezuela.

Susan and Oscar have recently made another kind of island their home--the 'sky island' of Idyllwild--and are happy to be your innkeepers during your stay at The Bunkhouse.

Oscar and Susan have many hobbies in common:  they both enjoy the outdoors and camping, they are both very concerned about the environment and choose to live a life with as little impact as possible, they are both big fans of natural building, and they both love kids and animals.

After growing up vacationing at her family's cabin here, Holly moved to Idyllwild full-time and immediately became involved in our mountain community. She has worked in a number of capacities, including helping run the Idyllwild Charter High School and for the Sierra Club protecting wild places in Riverside County. Holly is on the Board of Directors of the Malki Museum (California's 1st Indigenous Museum founded by NativeAmericans), and chairs the Idyllwild Earth Fair (Idyllwild's annual Earth Day celebration).

When she's not serving as Relief Innkeeper and Project Manager for the Strawberry Creek Inn and Bunkhouse, or in one of her many volunteer capacities, Holly can be found hiking our local trails with her three reservation dogs.

Rodney and Ian spend most of their time with guests at our sister property, the Strawberry Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast, but you may occassionally see them dropping in at the Bunkhouse as well.   They're also kept pretty busy with their 4 small dogs, 1 to 2 semi-feral cats, bees,chickens, and various other animals and insects Ian is known for taking in. Together they enjoy travel, hiking, farming, and discussing their varied interests with B&B guests over gourmet breakfasts.
